Half of February is done. I hope the high tide of love that knocked at our doors doesn’t turn low after the conclusion of Valentine’s day.
Recently I was just checking through my news feed on Facebook and I came across a video which showed the development of a child from Fecundation till birth. Amazing video.
I don’t know how many of us actually know how sophisticated our bodies are. We spend time studying the software and hardware around us, but we don’t realise that the best technology actually exists in our very own body.
For instance, eating food. Such an easy process, just chew and swallow. However, it’s not that simple. There is so many mechanisms and processes involved in the background. One step goes wrong and that’s when we even notice. We call it disease.
During our development in our mother’s womb, there are so many things that need to be right.
Let’s compare it to a dish you love to eat. Everytime you eat it, there is a minimum expectation, you know how spicy, sweet or salty it should be. If something is out of proportion, you will notice the difference. Now, this is just food, where the ingredients are so few. Imagine the human body where every action is already an epic process.
If the vital organs don’t develop, the child might not live. One mutation in the genes and so much can go wrong. Genes are so small that we need microscopes to see it but they control crucial processes that are noticable.
It takes nine months for a baby to be ready to face the world. How important are these nine months? Nine months isn’t a short time and mother’s know that it isn’t a very easy period. I can write paragraphs about it but I can never match the experience of a real mother. That’s the beauty of life, every experience is unique but all of them cannot be expressed. Some experiences are just that divine.
Every second in these nine months is so important because what happens in this time frame determines how healthy life after birth is going to be.
I used to once ask God, “You perform so many miracles all around the world but I haven’t seen even one, I want to see one, just one, please!” As years passed and as I learned more and more about human development, I began to feel guilty that I was begging for a miracle when my birth itself is the biggest miracle.
Isn’t it apt to term birth as a miracle?Maybe we didn’t do that because we don’t realise how lucky we are to have a fully functional and healthy body. The diseases and all the injuries that we come across are just part of our life.
Now, there is one more observation I want to share with you. I saw a stat a few days ago on the categories of porn that people watch. This will give you an idea why we haven’t acknowledged our miracle.
Now in this you’ll see that the most popular categories include mother related terms. Out of the top 4 categories viewed by men, 3 are mother related categories. Isn’t this alarming trend an abuse to the miracle of our birth? Do you agree?
Pornography itself isn’t something we humans should be proud about. However, the trends in this industry is proof of the fact that we humans are abusing the miracle of our birth! It is through an intercourse that the whole story of development starts but it’s sad how it has all become a medium of acquiring false pleasure. Think over it!
A healthy birth is like a brand new car, everything is new and fully functional. When this car hits the road of life there are bound to be problems but remember you got a new car.
We all have 2 eyes, 2 legs, 2 hands and so on. Not everyone has all this. Let’s acknowledge what we have and stop grumbling about what we don’t have or deserve.
Well here’s the video that got me to write this post. Earphones recommended! Celebrate the miracle of birth. God bless!
awesome dude

Excellent perspective on an age old issue. Birth is amazing! (I should know, I did it 4 times) and the miracle God gives us in life is right in front of us but as you’ve said we are so deceived, blinded by our lust to see the miracles surrounding us each day. I look forward to reading your blogs.

Great post, Jothish! Our birth is a miracle that most of us tend to overlook. I agree with Akhila Chechi. All the technological wonders of the modern world pale in comparison to God’s creations.

Reblogged this on Words and Notion and commented:
We have time to learn the 7 wonders in the world. But hardly have we appreciated the real wonders in a living body. I have senses to perceive the world, legs to walk, hands to hold you and so many miracles. Above all I have a mind too, which science can answer the mind processing in the perfect way?
How wonderful our body is! While living in a technologically miraculous world, rarely we recognise the real miracle, the birth. Hats off to the great creator.

A living person giving birth to another living person. It is indeed an absolute miracle! (: You made really nice observations that gave me ideas to ponder over. On a related note, I sometimes wonder, why aren’t we nine months old when we come out of our mothers’ womb. đ

Hehe! …. Interesting question! I never thought of that.
It’s because we count the age from birth, and a child is completely(fit enough to live by himself/herself) developed only after birth.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha. Yeah. I was only kidding. Although, if age is a concept of time, + nine months would definitely be more accurate. đ

From the moment a child starts to grow in front of your eyes, there happens the live magic show. Some instincts are fed to the infants which makes them the magicians. But the real miracle starts much before that as you mentioned. Those nine months are the crucial period which determines the baby’s wellbeing. You did a great job Joseph

As a mother I am say birth is a miracle. There are no words to describe that moment. Pregnancy can be straightforward or complicated. None is the same but the result is magic
